Biography

Matthew Ramirez is a composer and trombonist based in Lubbock, Texas. A Texas Tech University School of Music student, Matthew studies Music Education, Jazz Studies, and Music Composition. Studying under renowned faculty such as Hideki Isoda and Dr. Peter Fischer, Matthew specializes in writing music for Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Trombone Choir, Chamber groups, and media.

Matthew has had his music performed by various groups, such as the Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra, Texas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and the Texas Tech Red Raider Collective, a select Trombone Choir. Most recently, Matthew conducted the premier of his latest march “The Collective” at the 2023 International Trombone Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.

An avid musician, Matthew has played with numerous collegiate groups, such as the Texas Tech University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, University Symphony Orchestra, Red Raider Collective, Jazz Ensemble I, and the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra.

During the Summer, Matthew conducts the annual Steubing Ranch Independence Day Concert in San Antonio, Texas.
